What can I say? Vendome was all a bit disappointing. Having read the reviews here, I was a little concerned about getting in and went along armed with my email confirmation of my guestlist, which I (typically) didn't need - the door girl found us straight away. The decor is quite fabulous; the booths in particular are gorgeous, the dance floor brilliantly kitsch and the 'ring' bar added a differnt touch. The atmosphere was distinctly lacking though. The music was pretty dire 'heavy' dance, few people were dancing, even fewer actually looked like they were having fun. Were were these 'beautiful people' I kept hearing about? Well, if they were there they were certainly im hiding! The crowd was pretty dull; mainly hooray-henries who's idea of having a wild night was taking off their tie and dancing with it a bit (I kid you not, I actually saw this happening). I'm not typically hard to please and we had a nice enough night just being with friends, but Vendome just doesn't live up to the hype and has to be one of the most boring nights out in London I've ever known. Maybe it was an off-night, maybe my expectations were too high. For a night of style in terms of decor, Vendome is great, but it's certainly not a 'fun', carefree or chatty night. In my opinion a classic case of style over substance.
There is a girl that works on the VIP bar - seen her a few times - long brown hair - mamaaa - she is hooottt!
Horrible ,trashy place.
I have been there twice, once for the opening and God knows what a sad ,classless tacky atmosphere i experienced!) and the second time to give it another chance but it was twice as shit!!
The crowd is far too young,i haven't seen any good looking people but beauty is in the yes of the beholder so i guess who wrote that the club has good looking people is simply plain blind or just use to very low standards!!
The place is so bright that you can't see anything as the all place lights up and it feels you are at the stadium, nice toilets i must admits and this is probably the best part of the club!!
The people at the door are just too nasty to be described, poor service and very cheap crowd.
People don't waste you time and money ,with so much choice in the west end i wouldn't even bother to check this disgusting place out.
Hi guys, my friends and I really want to go here next Friday, but can't find a guest-list anywhere! Do you know of any promoters that are running guestlists?
Thanks
R
i went down there for one of the openings, and the door woman said to me ' il do you a favour as its late' - it was 12am. i dont want a favour, i want to get in, so i asked her to hop along and find someone who knew what they were talking about.... in the end she came back with someone i think more clueless than herself, and perhaps even ruder.(which was hard to beat) when he finally worked out how to read the list, (tough job) he let us in... the entrance is beautifully done. i was super impressed. then when i got into the club, i was blinded by strobes and LED's. i felt like i had gone back in time in my delorean. it was hugely chlostrophobic, it seems they have raised the floor, so what was already a low ceiling has become even lower. you cant see across the dancefloor, you cant find anyone and then they have these useless little tables on the dancefloor with high stools. i asked for a table and was offered one of those, to which i declined.... felt like at a breakfast bar, not a top west end club!!suffice to say, whatever money they spent, (looks a lot) perhaps million plus..is a waste!! i will not be going back and will tell all other bankers at work to not go either... not cool!!!
Vendome certainly has a glamourous and somewhat groundbreaking design in comparison to most West End clubs. The cosmetic overhaul is certainly a refreshing change from the venue's former incarnation (Pangaea), although it made me feel rather claustrophobic.
However, with drinks priced as extortionately as they are and table reservations that require minimum spends of £1000, I'm guessing that it'll be the sequel to Movida - attracting WAGs, footballers, bankers and their cosmetically enhanced, conspicuously designer-clad female admirers - which to me is simply dull.
the door girls name has gone round london, and noone wants to go to vendome because of her lol!! seriously no joke!!! everyone has heard about her and cant even be bothered to go down there in case they are turned away or spoken to like sh@t which everyone says she does.i go clubbing at least twice a week and with i think 3 new clubs opening soon...vendome being the first i was pretty excited.but completely ruined by this b@tch who looked me and my friend up and down after coming back from the westwood show and refused us entry...why? who knowwws??? we stood in the cold for about half an hour was anyone in front of us...not al all lol.wont even bother going back until i hear they have a new door girl.and i will be telling all the girls and guys at my work (chanel) not to go there either.worst door person in the whole of london!!VENDOME GET A NEW DOOR GIRL!!!!!!!!!!
As club design goes this is by far the most stunning club I have ever seen and having read through all the reviews so far I think few would disagree. The attention to detail shows where the money has been lavishly spent creating an escape from the toil of admission outside. I agree that a lot of people where turned away and although I pity them for this I revel in the fact that this venue has the balls to concentrate on quality - not quantity. Following from Le Plas Vendome this venue captivates the exclusive allure and glamour one finds from such designer labels from which the designers have obviously drawn their inspiration. The service is not 100% though I imagine this will be ironed out over time and when every average Jo finally realizes that they will not gain admission to Vendome they will prob make space for those that can making entry all the more easy.
I actually had the mis pleasure of show casing my collection there, i thought the door staff/bouncers were massively heavy handed and rude, they all seemed to have superiority complexes. The lady with the clipboard was a knightmare not only to you poor people who were quing but also to the models whom she bullied and abused all throughout the day.
Drinks prices were obscene, at 9.80 for a gin and tonic it was crippling to most mere mortals never mind designers whom just spent thousands of pounds putting a collection together topped off by rude bar staff and a minimum spend of 18 pounds at the bar to use your card. I certainly wouldn't recommend this place for anything other than the truly stunning decor..which i will note was incredible, from snake skin banisters to gold leaf chairs and a dance floor which lit up and pulsated to the bass lines of the music which was selected and mixed well.
I hope everyone enjoyed the catwalk show and wish you all the best
I too was there for the launch night and have met the woman-in-question who was on the door a few times before at other Bacchus events. I have to say if it wasn't for her, the night MIGHT have been on track to become good.
Loud, obnoxious and a complete power-freak - she saw people she knew in the crowd and put them before anyone else, VIP or not. She could not control a crowd if her life depended on it. Bacchus, please, if you read this, get someone else to do her job!
The actual club itself screams "glamour" louder than anything else I've been to. Dark colours infused with the shine of the mirrors and the awfully bright dancefloor make your eyes hurt at times - I wonder what being drunk feels like in there! Sometimes it feels like these places are trying too hard to be the next "place to go" in London, and sometimes it works - unfortunately, Vendome does not manage to pull this off quite so well as other places.
The drink list was definitely reserved for those with obscene amounts of money to spend - £30,000 for a bottle of Cristal?! £3,000 for a bottle of Krug?! £250 for a bottle of Absolut?! I couldn't see how much a simple softdrink would have cost, but I can imagine it would have been about £4, which for a Mayfair club is about the average but seriously, you could go about 2 tube stops down the road and get beers and cocktails for £4 - which are probably given to you with much more love and enthusiasm than the staff in Vendome do.
The clientele were a mix of fashionistas, socialites, wealthy businessmen and the occasional C-list celeb. The atmosphere was, I have to admit, not too bad - but the whole thing had a stench of "plastic"...a world for those who want to try to life the life of an A-lister.
All in all, not a place I would recommend. However, being the launch night I can understand there might be a few problems that can be ironed out.
I just don't plan on going to back to check if they have.
Re the door manager on 18th September, I couldn't agree more! Shame - because all other staff, whether Vendome or FTV, were extremely friendly and efficient and we had a good time ... once past the clipboard and pen!
Went last night for London fashion week. Was greeted by the rudest and most obnoxious door woman I have ever met. Out of all the clubs I have been to in London, I dont think me, or anyone else standing in line (for over an hour) has ever heard or seen such a nasty and controlling, and frankly useless person trying to organise a guestlist. It was a complete shambles, and whats more, the whole thing was being filmed for Fashion TV. She was not only shouting at the people standing in the cold waiting to go in, but also at her fellow staff. 'This is my space and my list, I am in control here, go back in' were words that were repeated at least once a minute. To say she was trying to empower herself is an understatement. Unfortunately, this did set a negative vibe for the night which could have been amazing. The club itself is beautifully finised with an incredible dancefloor. The only problem comes if you havent got a table, then you find yourself with literally no where to stand as the tables are scattered everywhere including on the dancefloor. The rest of the staff were lovely and very efficient, just a shame they decided to hire such an arrogant 'manager' who clearly felt very inadequate. You dont want to be spending over a £1000, knowing she will be benefiting in anyway!!
Went last Tuesday. Pretty fun night, spinning DJ booth in the centre too which is interesting, although make sure you don't forget about your drink if you're putting your drinks down on it.
Absolutely amazing venue!!
I have been to a few of the pre launch partys, as it's not actually officialy open yet to the general public.
The door policy is strict, if you don't look good your not getting in. simple! It keeps the class in and the trash out..amazing. so many clubs fall into that numbers game where they just want to fill the club but not vandome! gorgeous people only. You can expect to see gorgeous models, pretty boys, big spenders in the boothes with a million champagne bottles next to them and a few celebs chilling in the new latest hot spot in town!
Friendliest and most gorgeous hostess's I have ever seen and the entrance hallway is stunning! A fully mirrored golden hallway and stairs leading down to the club.
I got personally taken down by a hostess shown the cloak room and directed to the toilets..which is necessary as its kind of hidden and out the way.
But oh my goddd, the club is just something you don't see in London!
The whole dancefloor lights up and in the middle of the room there is the DJ booth that spins!! yes the only other club I know that has one of those is in St Tropez!
You cant actually get into the VIP without being a VIP or spendng over £1000 on a table in there, but my gosh does the VIP look so good! The boothes are all designed by different famous designers and not forgetting with a few famous people sitting inside them!
I heard the VIP toilet is all paved in gold leaf, but the general toilet is pretty spectacular as well. I cant believe I am talking about a toilet this is how much I loved the club lol.
The bar staff are quick and friendly, you pay for what you get in Green Park, reasonably priced drinks for the new hottest club in London.
The music is gd mixing from the hits out at the moment, funky house, electro, and a few classics all getting you dancing on the amazing dance floor.
It was an amazing night. and things can only get better for Vendome as it opens on the 17th sep!
I definitlety
