Great to find a good quality real ale pub in this otherwise student largerland. Friendly, good atmosphere with about 5 handpulls, not the cheapest but busy. Food choice v limited (lack of kitchen space) The staff are lovely, relaxed and friendly but do not change gear when there is a queue. Friday and Saturday nights can be very crowded but three staff on means one of them serving, one collecting glasses and one on a smoking break. A civilised clientelle means that a post-office type line develops, sometimes to the door. This can look strange but it is better than having a scrum and getting served out of turn.
A smallish bar with a good atmosphere; it has many, fantastic real ales ( Camra pub of the year ), ranging from session beer of 3.5 abv to Kwak at 8.00 abv and every now and then something around 11.00 abv ..... mental stuff. They have lots of continental lagers both in bottles and on tap; many are quite strong, beware!
Good food that's not too expensive with tea/coffee and chocolate too.
Contrary to the description, there is disabled access and a disabled lavatory.
Dog friendly but no children I'm afraid.
No Otley runners, fancy dress or huge groups allowed so just the place for a civilised drink; highly recommended.
The home-made Yorkshire pies are amazing!! You must got try, dont take my word for it!
