After visiting this pub I would advise anyone against visiting them.

As a local member of the community I was shocked to be greeted with such rudeness and standoffish from the management. I have previously been a customer of the pub, enjoying both food and drink - however since it has changed hands I can only despair.

Without direct correspondence with the community, and putting only one letter up (backdated to 2012) the owners have made the car park which sits to the adjacent left of the pub a Pay and Display service. Although it is well within their right to have done so, it has caused untold chaos to Apperley Lane (which is the main route to Leeds Bradford Airport and is very busy). Many cars belonging to local people had previously had an informal agreement with the local pub to use the space as a spill over. In four years of having lived in the area, I have never once seen the car park at maximum capacity.

To add further distaste to the management's move, they hastily rung the police which has resulted in local resident's inability to park outside their homes safely, unable to use any pavement area whatsoever. As a result, homeowners are at risk, and putting others at risk, by parking in the narrow and extremely busy road.

In voicing my concerns to the landlord, I was told 'to go live somewhere with parking' and that if anyone is hurt in a road collision 'it doesn't matter to us, its their problem.'

The only conclusion I can come to is that this pub does NOT value its customers, its community, or the safety of others. In lieu of this, I ask we, as a community, deny them our custom.

Bar Staff are amazing! the service is friendly warm and welcoming, the food is outstanding, and the place itself is attractive with a wonderful beer garden, the regulars are a polite and friendly bunch, the pub offers a wide range of ale to accompany your home-cooked food! Obviously time effort and care has been put into this lovely pub! An all-round 5 stars worthy of more!!!!

Good ale, good company and good food...

...the essential elements of a good British pub.......and all present in abundance at The Princess, Rawdon. (Fruit based drinks for the ladies always available as well, I'm told!).

A warm and friendly welcome from the landlord and his team makes this the ideal venue for anything from a quick 'arf in passing to a great traditional night out.

The loyal crowd of regulars set the convivial tone of the place, and are a testament to the high standards of service and consistent quality of drinks 'n' vittles on offer.

If you are looking for a good pub, look no further. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Me? Well, I've been a regular there for over twenty years, since the days of Ken and Shirley, so I know what I'm talking about.

An old fashioned pub spoilt by attempting to compete with High St fast food outlets. Garish & tasteless blackboards adorn its early 19th century external walls and do nothing to enhance the character of the conservation area in which it is situated.
Furthermore, the smoking clientele are truly amazing! What right-minded person would prefer to stand for hours in the pub carpark, drinking & smoking in all weathers, when they could be sitting comfortably under cover in an award-winning beer garden! This truly amazing behaviour is surely beyond belief!.
A sad example of a cosy neighbourhood pub trying desperately to alienate the local community - succeeding admirably!!
