We are local to the area and have enjoyed many good nights/days in the pub over the years even with the change of management. Well yesterday i have NEVER been so frustrated and alarmed by the lack of customer service skills and bad attitude we were welcomed by from waiting staff and the land la-die.
The pub stops serving food at 9pm. However when i went to order my food from the bar at 8.45pm i was told i was unable to as i was with a under 18 yr old. This was untrue to say the least. My party were seen speaking with some of our friends who had brought children in with the hours before our arrival. The land lady was so rude when i was explaining the situation interrupting, assuming and been very rude in front of many other customers. I asked for a complaint form to which she refused as i was allegedly with a under 18 yr old again untrue! I explained the had been here hours before we arrived, she then admitted she was wrong as she had served the other family throughout the day, so i then asked since you now know your assumption was wrong can i now order my food and have a complaint form as the way she handled the situation was disgusting. To which she replied NO! I am not one for writing reviews but feel people should be aware of the bad customer service , bad attitude of staff and there inability to handle and look into situations with in there pub needs to be voiced. Never go here!! save your money is my advice.
A very good warm atmosphere, food nothing special but a good price , drinks a good price , coca cola expensive should think about the drivers more ,very child friendly on sunday, a good family pub for all ages, good facilities clean inside and out , hey it's good place to drink socialize overall.
I think its about time people of the decent variety got down to this pub and see it for themselves. Considering it was almost closed down a few years ago the couple there have worked really hard to turn it around and make it a safe place for families and just about any one else to go into. Just as long as you are not into drugs and trouble because they take no prisoners from what I have seen.
Firstly, apologies for giving theis venue 1 star, as it deserves zero!.
I was also at the venue on Sat 17th to watch the band, the whole crowd was perfectly behaved and dancing and enjoying themselves.
I understand the venue is normally very quiet on a Saturday night, with very few people in. This night there was 100+
Everything went pretty well till 12:00 when the Landlady (I use the term loosely) cut the power to the band mid song with no prior warning which halted proceedings. When politely asked why, she turned aggressive and even refused to pay the band. Fortunately someone saw sense and the band were paid.
It was then that things turned sour. It appears the doormen were ordered to remove drinks from everyone and eject them instantly. They were grabbing women and pushing them out then one of them grabbed a guy round the throat who objected to his female friend behaving this way.
The well behaved crowd clearly didn't like being assaulted in this manner and a scuffle broke out which also involved a cowardly barman running in and punching someone.
The Landladies partner who was completely drunk then threatened to throw the band's equipment outside down the steep stair.
The band had not said anything wrong or got involved in the violence that the management, bar staff or doormen were dishing out. Unusually I imagine for a pub like this, the customers of the pub should have called the police about the behaviour of the staff.
I have never met such an obnoxious, aggressive violent Landlady as this. Her partner was even worse, but to make matters worse was completely drunk whilst managing the bar. Neither of them had any social skills whatsoever. I thought you would have to have an element of reasoning or restraint to manage a pub.
Clearly not in this place. Perhaps it's not their fault as they both seemed to display elements of learning difficulties ... in which case it would be the fault of the brewery for allowing them in.

I encourage any bands or artists reading this to avoid the Rounday at all costs. I play in a local covers band and paid my first visit to this venue at the weekend - sadly it will also be my last. Never in my time of playing music (which so far has spanned 20 years and 7 bands) have I been subjected to such an unprofessional attitude from the management of a venue. What was supposed to be a festive sing-a-long and charity fund raiser turned into a bar room brawl – all of which could have been easily avoided had it not been down to the disrespectful behavior of the management and security staff towards us and their paying customers.
The 'fun' started at the peak of the evening when the venue was busy while we were playing our encore. Then all of a sudden the land lady decided to cut the power to our amps and PA system - not once, but twice. This was because we had overrun by a few minutes. At no point however, we were warned that we needed to wrap things up and instead had to explain to the crowd why we had stopped playing - an embarrassing moment for us and the venue. Then as we were packing away our gear, the security staff waded in and decided that all the venues customers had to be ejected immediately from the premises. This led to some pushing and shoving from the overly aggressive security staff aimed and both men and women. The partner of the land lady who had had one too many then stormed towards the disgruntled crowd and ordered us to 'get our gear and f*** off'. This was met with much retribution and unfortunately some violence which was to be expected as everyone had been drinking all night.
A truely shocking establishment which should be closed down if this is how they treat their customers and entertainment acts.
terrible atmosphere the landlady is awful and very rude constantly, rude to customers and her staff wouldn't recommend it to any feel sorry for the staff that she constantly scream at!
This pub was a nice place to go once upon a time but the ladylady and her cocaine dealing boyfriend and ruined a good pub. The atmosphere is none existent due to there not being many customers! Bar staff are nice and friendly and the foods ok. Could be a fantastic pub if they got new landlords in
Great food! Great atmosphere and lovely staff! Nice family pub, with a nice, yet wide set of customers. Been in a few times now, and really enjoyed myself. You have to love the landlady too, great gal.
Had a cracking night here, what a laugh!
