Excellent run Pub newly refurbished friendly staff and varied menu we had lunch today Ploughmans & Trio of Bruscetta was good value. They have good range of food and ales, give it a try you will not be disappointed just go for the views from the conservatory or car park, not forgeting the lovely walks on the Chevin. Nb Treat dad to Fathers day meal special promotion on Sunday 15th Jun! Check with Pub
We were really pleased that the Royalty had re-opened as we often liked to go there over the years. However I feel really saddened that the staff don't seem to want people going in for just a drink after 9.00 at night. The first time we visited shortly after it re-opened a female member of staff actually put the buffets on the table at 10.15 pm, around people still sat having a drink, which clearly says clear off. We have still called in and find it a shame that it is still not welcoming, considering it has a separate 'bar' to the restaurant which seemed a nice change initially not to sit at tables set out for meals as in many 'meal' pubs. Think it will be some time now before we give it another chance as our visit last Friday actually was ridiculous - they called last orders before ten o'clock and while we were finishing our drinks they turned people away who had called for a drink - Needless to say they weren't happy and one person in particular had paid nearly six pounds for a taxi to visit it for the last hour. Where are any managers or owners of the place - People will only give it second chances for so long!
The best thing are the views. Friendliness is often nonexistent though i found. Food is ok and the drinks are ok, but this really is not a pub for a group of single woman. After dark it can be a very unnerving locaton and almost empty. It is in the middle of know where on a hill. I took some friends there and had a few drink, but they found it unfriendly and the location unnerving. Besides it was allmost empty. i would not recommend this pub to anyone. And will not be going anymore.
Thought this was a really nice pub, great for all the family, the food was really tasty and the staff were lovely.
