Initially visited Salute and had what could only be described as an extremely poor meal. The bill was £200 for 4 people (including drinks)which was expensive in itself but when you combine this with food standards that you could better in 2 very good local pubs this restaurant becomes a joke. Spend the same money at places such as River Plate and you will start to see why some restaurants can charge this all day long and be packed out where as Salute does not have the menu or the capability to deliver to standard. All of the staff our attentive and couteous but the owner was witnessed having an argument with a customer on this initial visit regarding the poor quality food.

Rather than write off a local restaurant we decided to give Salute another go. The second visit did see a an improvement in the food (we stayed away from the steak this time) but was presented with a lamb dish that was over cooked and came with a side dish of Shepherds pie! Again bland unimpressive and poorly cooked and to top it all guess what? The owner was again witnessed having a customer complaint which we deemed to be fair from the customer but was recieved very poorly until the owner asked the customer to leave. We would not advise a visit to this restaurant pretender, try the local pubs less than a mile away or venture on to spend more but get great value for money else where. WE live locally and do endeavour to support local businees hence the second go but it really comes to something when the local restaurant is this bad, avoid avoid avoid. Read the other reviews some good some bad but nearly as many of each.

I can't recommend Salute enough.

We booked a table for four at short notice. We went later on, at 9pm, and although it was quite busy, the staff didn't forget about us in favour of the larger groups, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door.

The food was amazing, portions were generous, service was brilliant and the staff were very friendly (even my very talkative father!).

If you're nearby, make sure you go to Salute.

My understanding is that there can be a number of kids around earlier on, but after 8pm, it doesn't seem to be much of a problem.

I'm glad we live within walking distance. :)

I think this place is owned by the same people who had Bottles in Oulton. Bottles was fantastic for food and Ambience. Salutes is just over priced simple as , and lacks the atmosphere that Bottles had. Rothwell is crying out for decent restaurants for local people unfortunately this isn't it.

Salute Restaurant is the best in the area. As for the posting saying the owner Justine was Rude, she has the patience of a Saint as it is not easy trying to please all people. Justine is friendly and very approachable. She is hard working and supports many charities. Last year she cycled 300 miles in Vietnam for cancer research for her 40th birthday in memory of her dad who she lost to cancer. Food:the food is always piping hot the atmosphere is cosy and the lighting is beautiful. The staff are always checking to see if the meal is ok and everything is to your liking. If there is a problem tell them while you are there not after you leave. The restaurants child friendly but I have never seen children run around, it is spacious yet secluded areas. The layout is exceptional. I have been visiting Salutes for years and will continue to do so and introduce many new people to the restaurant. Compliments to the chef for a recent meal delicious! Try it. . Marie Leeds.

Do not eat at Salute Restaurant! We spent New Years Eve here as a party of 14 adults and 2 children, we were happy until the bill came, it was £100 over what is hould have been. £70 was a mistake at their end and £30 was a service charge, when we questioned it with the so called owner (female, italian looking, short black bobbed hair) she was furious, rude and spoke to us with little respect. After settling the bill I told her that her attitude was child like and stroppy this infuriated her even more and she told us to never come back as we were no longer welcome in her restaurant! Don't worry we will never step foot in that place again. She does not deserve your money, do not go there look at how she Treats customers! I will stick to my liitle italian in Wakefield Prego's, the food is amazing and the service is everything it should be, they also have never tried to rip us off! :( we are and forever will be disgusted with salute and it's so caled owner! We recently held a funeral tea at Salutes recommended by the Co-op funeral company. For £8.95 a head plus £30 arrangement fee we catered for 30 people and were promised smoked salmon sandwiches, honey roast ham sandwiches, egg sandwiches and cheese sandwiches, salad garnish, pork pies, chips, crisps, chicken wings and quiche. We didnt get the smoked salmon or honey roast ham sandwitches or crisps or salad garnish. The chips were in 2 small bowls and quickly ran out and the chicken was cold.Salutes have since admitted that there was no salmon sandwiches but are adament there were ham which there wasnt and we should have asked for more chips. At no time did anyone ask if everything was okay.Salutes have since offered us a gift voucher but its no use as we dont live in the area. What a rip off.

I, as well as my whole family and lots of my friends, are regulars at Salute. Food is always good, great value and an amazing choice. Try the chicken livers to start, fantastic!. If you want a good night out and cant be bothered to go into Leeds City Centre, then look no further than Salute. I wish there were more local restaurants like this!

Visited Salute at The White Swan for the first time last Saturday. Wasn't quite sure what to expect as we normally eat out in Leeds City Centre. Well, all I can say is WOW!!. From the moment we walked in, our party were made to feel extremely welcome. We were asked by the most delightful member of staff, whether we would like a drink first at the bar or go straight to our table, (which was ready on time even though the restaurant was heaving). Thought this was a nice touch and something that we are used to when eating in better restaurants in Town. There is a really lively buzz about the place and great music in the background just added to the ambience. The menu is extensive yet interesting. I defy anyone to find something that wouldnt take their fancy. When the food arrived, it looked and tasted as good as it sounded on the menu. Stunning starters and beautifully presented main courses were received well by all in our group. Although the staff were busy, they couldnt do enough for us and were only interested in making sure we were enjoying ourselves. I didnt order a desert as i was too full, but when i saw my partners, i wish i had. I cannot recommend Salute at the

Nice food and nice staff, but do not even think about going here if you want a nice atmosphere in which to enjoy your meal. It is heaving with unruly children whose parents let them run around all over the place. We wanted to enjoy our meal in peace but instead had to endure crying/shouting and running around with endless power slides being done across the carpet behind us. If I wanted that I would have gone to Wacky Warehouse! Never going back there again, shame.

Really poor food. The chef on duty looked quite unwell during our visit and this put us off, as did the pizza he prepared. It had the feel of a defrosted microwave job. The waitress was excellent though and very friendly, but it seemed she was the only one working as the rest of the staff seemed to be more busy planning their social life. Hoped for better. Here's a good idea. If you want your restaurant to do well, serve good food!

such a shame this restaurant is just average.

it's the only place local to me where you can take the kids without feeling out of place but the food is never nice enough.

my husband ordered a bolognaise pizza which looked like it had just had the sauce slapped on and tasted for too salty for him to eat.

we complained but the waitress just said 'oh well sorry', we were then charged a ridiculous service charge for 5 of us which we refused to pay as the service was lacklustre.

I was disappointed on all levels by Salute. Firstly at the bar why do soft drinks cost more than alcoholic ones?

£2 for a sprite (apparently the lemonade on tap wasn't working although later I saw someone using it!)

£1.50 for 1/2 pint of cider it makes no sense. On to the meal itself I had Ribeye steak 'Diane' £14.95.

The sauce was very nice, I was asked how I like my steak and asked for medium rare and ended up with medium to well done.

The thick cut chips some of them were under cooked and hard. I didn't feel the service was particuarly friendly especially when the dirty cutlery was dropped on me by the waitress.

Overall I would say 'could do better'. A very lack lustre evening which was a real shame I don't know if this was a one off.

I liked to go back and find out but I'm not sure I can justify the expensive fizzy drink and sadly I don't mean champagne!!

Its actually nice to visit a restaurant that offers a child friendly place to dine. Good food, great staff and a relaxed atmosphere!
