I went to Zizzi last night and was seriously let down. Me and my boyfriend went to celebrate one year together so we really wanted a special evening. We ordered our starters (Garlic and cheese bread and an italian bread platter) at the same time as our mains. The bread came quickly, as you'd expect, but then we had a 25 minute wait for our main - even though when we'd ordered there were only 4 other tables! I got a bit worried they'd forgotten our order so I asked the waitress who went to ask the chef. i looked over and he was frantically looking for the order slip...says it all! So the waitress came back, albeit another 5 minutes later after seeing to other customers, saying it would be out "soon". I asked what happened and basically she blamed the chefs! Proffessional! When our mains did come out, I REALLY wanted to enjoy it after the wait but it was so uncooked. Yes, Pasta is meant to be 'al dente' but i couldnt even get my fork in it. When the waitress asked how the food was, I was honest..she went to see the chef and manager and then came back with "They both said we cook our food as we cook it!" and offered me a free drink - I didn't want a free drink, I'd just wanted a good dining experience with my boyfriend and I didn't get that all. I'll never go there again. Utter rubbish.
My pizza was excellent and the kitchen is open so I could see it being hand made and cooked in a big wood burning oven.
Service was fast but not rushed and the staff were all so friendly. Will definitely return and recommend to everyone!
The carbonara is really nice & creamy. The staff are so nice & its brought out quite quick.
