As I am single I'll probably spend this Valentines Day wondering which of my failed relationships might have worked out and where it went wrong. Well, I can tell you this for nothing fellas, not doing anything for Valentines Day features pretty highly. I've heard a variety of colourful excuses to explain the lack of Valentine celebrations. One said it was against his religion (he was Jewish), another said it was too commercial, another said he didn't need a day to prove how he felt (turns out that was true, he didn't feel anything) and the rest, well I've tried to forget about them. If any of this is ringing any bells with you, or you find this amusing, read on Romeos, read on.
I imagine there are lots of girls who are more nervous about Valentines Day than their boyfriends are, so do them a favour (do yourself a favour) and spend some money this Valentines Day at Leeds restaurants. You'll save yourself an evening of stormy looks and petulent replies of 'I'm fine' when you ask if anything is wrong. If I were being taken out for Valentines Day at Leeds restaurants, I'd say Brasserie Forty Four would be pretty high on my list. It's one of the more expensive options for Valentines Day at Leeds restaurants (it's £40 per person) but it'll be worth it. Another blow-out option is Mal Brasserie, which is offering a three-course meal for £45 per person. It's expensive, I'll grant you, but it will feel it, and so will she.
As we all know we're entering some sort of capitalist apocalypse. No doubt if I'd been going out with one of the aforementioned ex-boyfriends they'd have jumped on the financial collapse with glee, using it as the perfect excuse not to do anything. Well, sorry lads, you've no excuse because Valentines Day at Leeds restaurants isn't as expensive as you think. Cafe Rouge is offering a very cheap deal. You get three courses for £24.95, and the offer runs from February 12 to February 15. The Olive Press is the next cheapest at only £26.50 for a three-course meal, or you could spend a couple of quid more and go to Bella Italia where you'll get a three-course deal for £29.95 which includes a sparkling cocktail.
Italians have got the right idea and make a big deal about Valentines Day. You won't hear any moaning about commercialism from them. Which is why it should be no surpise that Bibis is hosting some sort of Valentines festival. From February 13 to February 15 they've booked Beatles, Elvis and Abba tributes and are serving up a Valentines themed meal. It's not my ideal date but, as I say, any sort of nod towards the fact that Valentines is actually happening would be a godsend.
