This great new addition to Leeds’ night scene and the second Vodka Revolution to open in the city has it all. Great customer service, even better cocktails, good food and a great party atmosphere.
The Venue
The old Electric Press building in Leeds is now host to restaurants and bars including Spice Bar, Red Chilli, Sisushi, Ha! Ha! Bar, Spice Quarter, Casa Mia, Epernay and Revolution (on the Cookridge Street side of Millennium Square). Also in the building is Leeds’ newest theatre, The Carriage Works.
In the centre of all these night spots and eateries is a covered courtyard where the afore mentioned venues have outside patio space of which Vodka Revolution takes the lion’s share. Inside, there is a downstairs bar and very smart toilets with plenty of mirror space over the sinks and on the walls. Upstairs there's the top cocktail bar and restaurant areas which provide a very funky dining backdrop with black leather booths and brown leather sofas for relaxed drinking.
The People
Revolution has a very sophisticated and classy feel with attention to detail being paid at all times by the experienced staff. Emphasis is placed on the maintenance of the vibrant yet upmarket vibe in the bar and this is reflected in the crowd who come here to take advantage of the ability to party in the elegant surroundings of the bar.
The Food and Drink
The menu is of a high standard for a growing bar chain. You can feel quite ethical dining here too, as all of the animal produce is farm reared, grass fed, free range and organic. A good recommendation for those who love red meat is the steak which is very juicy and cooked precisely to order (£9.95). Or you could have pasta, goulash (£5) or a Ranch Burger with Monterey Jack cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce (£5.50).
If you don’t mind spending a little more on good drinks then the cocktail bar is a must. There are a good variety of cocktails on offer and they’re presented with flair. If you like pineapple or coconut based cocktails you will be impressed with the Del Boy. Even if vodka isn’t your thing there are plenty of alternatives such as the draught and bottled beers and lagers.
The Last Word
Vodka Revolution at the Electric Press far surpasses the expectations of most who drink or dine there and, as far as the dining and drinking experience goes, it is even better still than its well established Call Lane counterpart.
