The ViewLeeds Review
Leeds’ newest and hottest venue is causing quite a stir, and for all the right reasons. With better sound, better decor and better, well, everything, the old ‘Townhouse’ has been reinvented, and only one adjective will sum it up…fabulous. The VenueFollowing a mega-bucks makeover which has resulted in a total image overhaul, Chilli White is a much improved and inspired evolution of its predecessor - Townhouse.
It has three floors of decadent drinking space, each offering a completely different mood. You can move from the heavenly serene ‘White Room' on the ground floor, with an outdoor cobbled area, up to the sumptuously seductive boudoir-esque ‘Red Room’, which has a leather padded ceiling, mirrored walls and smoking terrace.
There's also the chic, imposing, and a bit rustic,‘Club Room’ on the second floor. This has a fabulous clash of styles with ornate chandeliers hanging from masculine beams that straddle the loft space.
The newest and smartest addition to the Leeds' night scene cuts a very impressive figure against the cobbles and arches of Assembly Street.
With flame patio heating, expansive white umbrellas and matching patio furniture, the exterior sets the standard for the interior in what could quite possibly be the smartest, chicest venue in Leeds.
The PeopleGoing for a more exclusive look has paid dividends for this fabulous style bar and club. The crowd here are style savvy and know what they want from a night out, and in a 600 capacity club they can be sure that the mass-production feel of many Leeds' clubs can be avoided.
The staff are one of the friendliest and most skillful groups of mixologists you would care to be served by, and they take great pride in their work, paying attention to detail at all times which does real justice to the opulent surroundings.
The DrinkIn keeping with the innovative decor, the bar offer the fairly new concept of buying spirits by the bottle. This could prove popular for groups with reserved tables, especially as mixers are free.
Along with a great selection of classic cocktails and Champagne cocktails, Chilli White has developed a taste of its own with their fantastic house mixes. One not to be missed by the adventurous is the Chilli White, a hot and sweet amaretto and rum-based creation with a chilli twist.
Bubbly fans need not fear as there is an eight bottle selection of Champagne, ranging from a thrifty Piper Heidsieck Brut to the lavish Louis Roederer Cristal.
The MusicEvery Thursday they host Goshi, which is a night for those with eclectic tastes. They play funk, electro, hip hop and funky house.
Admission is reduced, and there are drinks offers to keep those who just can’t wait for the weekend happy. The nights not to be missed though are Friday and Saturday, especially if you like funky house, disco and soul.
And who would have thought that Leeds’ premiere style bar and club would have a student night. With R'n'B, hip hop, dirty electro and chart hits being played across all three floors, Mondays are a hit with students across the city.
The Last wordChilli White has created a strong rival to the neighbouring style conscious bars, Superna and Oracle. Attention to detail, not just in appearance but also in the service provided by the extraordinarily attentive staff, has made Chilli White a front runner in Leeds nightlife.
