Went today with my wife and 2 girls, been meaning to visit for a while. Was pleased to find that they actually served decaff drinks for a start something rarely found in the majority of cafe's and eateries ( my wife has a medical condition & cannot have caffeine ). I ordered a Latte, my wife a decaff tea and my girls had Pasta and Chips, this came to just over £7.00 which I thought was very good by todays standards. The food was very nice, decent enough portion for the price and the girls who served us brought us everything we needed including mayo in a dish because my Daughter had asked for some. The establishment itself has plenty of parking & was nicely laid out inside & out. We sat down in complete comfort on 2 x 2 seater settees, there was an area for children to play and free Wifi was provided to my girls delight. Would I recommend this café, definitely! will I be going again, absolutely! Keep up the good work Café Lux and don't give people an excuse to moan as they don't need much nowadays.
I was extremely disappointed walking into this once pleasant cafe. The kitchen was closed for some unknown reason which was again disappointing to say the least as I enjoyed coming for a meal here. The place was a shambles with furniture piled on top of each other. Compensation claim in my opinion. What I could only presume was the manager walked in with a face like thunder and didn't set a very nice atmosphere within the cafe in the slightest. I am absolutely appalled at the change in the cafe. I don't think I shall be returning unless it returns to it's former glory.
Visited today at lunch time . we waited 30 min for 2 salads , when I asked member of staff why so long he says they will be 2 minutes , 10 minutes later we told staff we had to go back to work can we have them as take out !! He came 5 min later with 2 salads on a plate
wrapped in cling film !!we had to walk thru pudsey back to work with 2 plates.
the salad was a disgrace for the money we paid just a plate of lettuce with a few bits of tomato and chicken on top other salad was lettuce with plastic ham on top. we wait 40 min for that and paid over £3.50 . Never again we would be better getting a sandwich from greggs and sitting in park. Not impressed with service from staff feel they could have been more helpful.
Ate here last week was unaware it even existed until I noticed the sign outside , and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised the decor is that of I'd say a kind of homely lounge and very well coordinated and colourful . I ordered a latte which was made very well by the counter server , very friendly lady with dark hair , and asked if they served food which they did , the paninis were like none I had ever seen in your run of the mill cafe and all had names relevant to there fillings, they had a specials board which had a tiger prawn and chorizo salad on which sounded lovely but I was feeling a little more interested in the paninis I chose an Angus moo which am guessing is something to do with the meat used for the meatballs, I waited about ten minutes for my panini I was told that the meatballs are cooked to order and might take a little longer than the other paninis , but I didn't mind quite refreshing to here when your expecting a ready made sandwich , and the ten minute wait was worth it because the panini was amazing juicy meat balls in a spicy tomato sauce with melted cheese served with a side salad and coleslaw and fries, which was only £1.50 extra I thought quite a good deal , and incentive to spend a little more the waitress a slim girl was very polite and helpful and made sure I was happy with everything before I ate and before I left . The one thing I will criticise is the way that the staff were quite young and it showed in the fact they were attentive but as soon as you were served and happy they weren't very interested but I guess that will come to them in time ,although they were young it is good to see young people with such energy using it positively I guess I will definitely return and bring my friends so they can experience this little gem of a place little push more on customer service after care ant the next review will be 5 star
Well what can I say. Menu looked great, coffee was delightful but im sorry where did you get your staff from! Greasy haired girl who thinks its acceptable to swear in front of customers, use her mobile phone and and lean on the counter whilst drinking pop that she helped herself to out of the cafe fridge! What? Its not a good image! Where is the manager of this cafe? All I saw was young unprofessional children running Cafe Lux. What a shame all the effort has been put into the look of this cafe which is great but the above just spoils all that! No atmosphere, chef in track suit bottoms and scruffy looking staff that have no respect or professional attitude, sort it out and I will be back and im sure many more people my age will do the same,a Matron is needed!
Well, they are improving, still needs more work. I agree with previous review the place is not kept clean enough. On the positive side the Panini lunch deal is great value. Service a bit slow and disorganized BUT they are getting there. I like this cafe the staff are very friendly and if you are not happy they will fix it. Great outdoor area and improving all of the time to cater for young mums with children. Cleaning needs to be sorted out though if they want to succeed. Come on Cafe LUX let me give you 5* next time.
visited today and was very disappointed. Firstly, in our view the cafe needs a good clean all around. Floors needed sweeping, crumbs all over and the furniture needs to be moved and swept underneath, lots of dust. Skirting boards need a wash and also table tops not over clean. Windows inside got lots of marks on. We had a sandwich which was mediocre, presentation poor , no napkins offered with plate and waitress hair untidy and not tied back. Unhygienic whilst serving food. What could be a lovely cafe was not what we expected and after all if it does not look spotless inside , it does not give the best impression overall.we would not eat here again.
