This light and bright pub doesn't immediately strike you as being a gay hangout. Quiet and conversation prone during the day, it tries to gathers a party crowd at night but it looses custom to The New Penny nearby.

The Venue
The Bridge Inn is one of those places where it's easy to order a drink before realising it's a gay pub. It has nothing of the camp and cheerful environment you would imagine. Instead it has all the casualness of a standard pub.

The place is bright thanks to the many windows and the light wood and beige decor. It has modern furnishings with high stools around shelves to rest your drinks and a few comfortable couches. There are screens hanging from the ceiling and game machines and there's also a disco ball giving a clear clue that this place will try to make you dance once night falls.

The People
The Bridge Inn is popular with all and you'll usually find mostly homosexual couples, the odd group of friends and singletons. There's no average age with the barely 18 to those past 50 mixing without trouble. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, the music is good and there's entertainment in the form of karaoke once a week.

The game machines and the videos on screen are appreciated by the customers. Despite the fact that the Bridge Inn is a very decent pub, it looks like it cannot win the battle with The New Penny nearby which is by far more popular with the gay crowd for a night of partying.

The Drink
There is nothing too exciting on offer. They serve the regular beers, spirits and the random bottle of house wine. The most interesting option seems to be Theakston Best Bitter. Prices are slightly steep but a beer is within the £2 to £3 price range.

The Last Word
The Bridge Inn is a good hangout spot during the day. It's easy to make the hours pass while sipping your beer, playing with one of the game machines and chatting a bit. Whether you want to stay till late is your choice but if it's a big crowd you are after then move elsewhere. If you want a more relaxed experience you are more than welcome to stay.
