At first glance you may mistake The Lounge as one of those old style, old man’s pubs. But the mock Tudor exterior is misleading.

As you enter through the medieval looking door you feel like you'e gone through a stargate and have been transported to another dimension that's cool, relaxed and stylish. It feels like home but with table service.

The People
Continuing the medieval feel it's pretty dark in The Lounge but candle-lit tables, a real fire and lots of sofa booths and comfy sofa chairs all add to the cosy feeling that the bar embraces you with. This kind of atmosphere makes it the perfect place to bring a date. The Lounge is also a great place to chill out, have some lunch after some hardcore shopping or have a few drinks with your workmates after the daily grind. Even if you're on your own it's a non intimidating place to just be with yourself and feel comfortable among the crowd.

They also have friendly staff, great service, good music including djs on Saturdays and a free live act on Sundays and...wait for it...free Wi-Fi.

The Food
Growling tummies can be tamed with the fresh and diverse menu that caters to most tastes. The Bedale steaks are locally sourced so The Lounge scores some good karma points for supporting local food producers.

If you just have the nibbles there are smaller dishes from the main menu. You can also choose to eat at the bar where there's a large TV to watch or go al fresco and watch the beautiful people walk by. There's also a garden area that looks just like a magical scene from Narnia. If you are want a little more formality you can eat in the official restaurant on the first floor. Make a beeline for the giant designer glamourous zebra print chairs that surround a black shiny round table.

If you're coming in your lunch hour and are restricted for time you can pre-order your food up to 11am. When you arrive all you have to do is relax, eat and enjoy your lunch hour stress and hassle free.

The Drinks
The drinks are reasonably priced and there is an extensive wine and Champagne list that appeals to varied tastes. For those of you who may get a little frazzled with the choices there's an easy to follow wine guide to help you navigate your tastes in the right direction. If you're a cocktail guy or gal there are cocktails to match every outfit and every personality.

The Last Word
The Lounge has lots to offer and it does it in a subtle way. Whatever the occasion you'll enjoy a visit to The Lounge and you'll no doubt become a regular.
