The ViewLeeds Review
A stylish bar offering a generous slice of city life in trendy Chapel Allerton.
The Venue
Said to be Jake’s Bar and Oporto’s ‘fashionable’ younger sister, this bar is one of the most popular in the trendy area of Chapel Allerton. And with its good quality drinks, friendly bar staff, contemporary decor and eclectic music, it’s pretty easy to see why.
Spread over three floors with a lively ground floor, chic mezzanine level, and top floor, Angels Share can pack in the crowds during the weekend which gives the place a real buzz. The top floor can also be hired for private functions. The decor is comfortable yet stylish with a dark wood, sleek glass and chrome fusion that creates a super chic atmosphere.
The main feature of Angels Share, which sets it apart from the other bars in the area, is the large outdoor seating areas. There's seating on the ground floor and on the top floor out on a balcony, and, what's more, they're heated. Perfect for hot summer nights or lazy Sunday afternoons.
The People
Angels Share attracts a mixed crowd and is both popular with the fashionable set and the locals who have seen Chapel Allerton transform from a typical Leeds suburb with traditional pubs, to a swanky ‘village’ with trendy bars and restaurants. This area is happening!
Nevertheless, this bar has a friendly atmosphere where people congregate at the weekend for the same purpose – fun times and more fun times. It's also child friendly, so expect to see families there at the weekends.
The Food
Food at Angels Share offers simplicity, good flavour and value for money – expect to pay around £4.45 for a generous-sized sandwich with a side of fries.
Those who are feeling slightly peckish can opt for one of the several sharing platters, which come with hummus, olive tapenade, feta, pickled chillies, cous cous, warm pitta and a side of meat or vegetables. These come in at £5.95 or £4.95 a head.
There’s also a range of delicious sandwiches and side orders. Those who have a hearty appetite might like to try one of the stone-baked pizzas or calzones including smoked salmon for £7.95 or mushroom and spinach for £6.95.
The Drink
You’ll find it equally difficult to choose your drink as the menu is extensive. Choose between ice-cold bottled beers and beers on tap (£3 a pint), fruity and refreshing wines and a dazzling array of tempting alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails (£2). The peach bellini (£5.50) is to die for!
The Last Word
Located in the heart of Chapel Allerton, this chic bar offers a great environment where you can chill outside or listen to the DJ spin eclectic music inside...a perfect out of town bar with an addictive atmosphere.
