This small and happy cafe provides everything you need to kick start your day and put a smile on your face.

The Venue
Strolling down the pretty Queen’s Arcade it's impossible not to notice the cute Pickles and Potter. Peek through the large windows of this two room cafe and you'll see chunky wooden tables and chairs, a few armchairs and a comfy couch covered with soft fabrics and pillows.

This cafe is so cosy and nice that once inside you won't want to leave. The walls are covered with sketches and there's an arty feel to the place. Different coloured ribbons hang from the lamps and you may also see a few balloons bobbing about as if the place has just finished celebrating May Day.

The People
At Pickles and Potter you can eat in or take away but the place is so nice almost everybody decides to stay and with good reason. The atmosphere is laidback and it has a de-stressing effect on most customers.

It's no wonder this place is popular with all sorts and you'll find groups of university students appreciating the cafe's support of local farmers, mothers and daughters of all ages enjoying the teas and cakes, while couples are attracted to the intimate atmosphere. It is just impossible to dislike this place, which is unpretentious, friendly and radiates positive vibes.

The Food
If you are looking for something savoury you can pick from noodles, sandwiches (£3.20 to £4), burgers and salads. Everything is loaded with fresh ingredients and wherever possible these are locally sourced. The filled focaccia are freshly prepared and they come in generous portions. They also serve pork pies made by Voakes Pies of Whixley and you can take home a great variety of cheese from the deli counter. Everything is prepared with care and served at your table.

Eating a salad here makes you feel like you're treating yourself to a restaurant meal. The cakes (from £1.85) are handmade and healthy and a chocolate brownie will cost you £2 and is filled with goodness. The food is decently priced and this increases the cafe’s popularity.

The Drink
Pickles and Potter is all about the food so the drinks are standard. They serve all the regular soft drinks plus a good selection of organic or ethical brands like Firefly, Feel Good, Bundaberg (they stock ginger beer and lemon, lime and bitter). Teas and coffees (approximately £1.85) are well prepared. Relax and treat yourself to a cappuccino with a slice of carrot cake. Life doesn't get any better.

The Last Word
Pickles and Potter is the cutest and most relaxing cafe in town. It's a cosy retreat where you can unwind any day of the week, any moment of the day. Highly recommended.
