Karma Lounge is truly full of karma and is so warm and inviting it's like a boozy version of nirvana.

The Venue
First thing you'll notice is the nice patio on the canal which offers some great views. Inside, the Karma Lounge has some rather funky, functional furniture with tables made out of the large wooden spools used to carry cables around construction sites and these are surrounded by circular couches.

Oriental accents are scattered about with paintings, lamps and statues contrasting with the exposed brick walls. The lights are red and orange which gives this place a warm atmosphere (maybe it's the Karma Lounge aura?). There are also candles and orange curtains and the place is cosy and rich with lots of personal touches. A minuscule balcony over the water is the final touch in this perfect environment.

The People
Karma Lounge is a favourite with young Loiners especially the twenty to thirty-somethings. It feels like the living room of one of your cooler mates; the sort who'd let you stay all night, play loud music and wouldn't complain when you passed out in front of their plasma screen with an X-Box control in your hand.

This is a popular place for birthday parties and your group will easily stick together since the bar is quite small and sometimes it feels as if you have the whole place to yourself. Everything here is chilled out, friendly and relaxed and the atmosphere is definitely one of the great points of Karma Lounge. It's the spot for a stylish, mature night out.

There is always a DJ on duty spinning dub as well as soul and funk and Karma Lounge is building a reputation as an intimate DJ venue. There are rumours that even Erol Alkan played a secret set here.

The Drink
There's not too much to choose from and the drink list, just like the atmosphere, is simple and unpretentious. You can still order imported lager like Tiger, Sol, Mahou or Grolsch as well as the house beer. A rather short selection of wine, spirits and liqueurs complete the lot. Between 5pm and 8pm you pay according to what time it is, so order at 5:05pm and you've got yourself a cheap round. They do hold occasional barbecues as well as hosting other food and drink deals.

The Last Word
Karma Lounge is a comfortable retreat the whole year round. You won't have to dress up and you're guaranteed a fun, relaxed night. Highly recommended.
