The ViewLeeds Review
Trio is the perfect place for a casual dinner, a romantic rendezvous on the top floor or a full blown friends' night out in the basement.
The Venue
Trio is located on Headingley’s main street and is one of the best restaurants that Headingley has to offer, with the added bonus of parking around the back. It provides the ultimate dining experience with its lively basement bar, fantastic restaurant and cocktail lounge spread over three floors.
The restaurant features an impressive stainless-steel open kitchen that takes up an entire wall of the restaurant allowing the delicious aroma of freshly baked pizza dough to hit you as soon as you enter. The interior is welcoming and the relaxed vibe is what keeps its customers coming back for more.
There's an air of simplicity about this restaurant. It's a low-key dining experience that doesn't need to take any attention away from the food with flashy decor or super high price tags. This restaurant is all about one thing...the food!
The People
A popular haunt for students, this trendy eatery has a young feel to it yet attracts people of all ages due to its splendid food and high standard of service. Perfect for groups of friends, relaxed birthday celebrations, and romantic dinners alike.
Come here for a lunch time treat and you will be greeted by bright and airy surroundings where you can watch the world go by through the windowed wall that looks onto the main street.
The relaxed vibe continues into the evening with dimmed lighting allowing for a cosier dining experience in a friendly unpretentious atmosphere. It's always pleasantly busy on any given day and is practically buzzing on a night.
The Food
Starters range from £4.50 to £7.95 with fresh calamari and homemade spiced parsnip and apple soup. There's a pleasing selection of pizza, pasta, salad and meats yet it has to be noted that the pizzas are their speciality.
Starting at £6.95 a Trio pizza is thin and crispy and a good size and they comes with some exiting combinations such as the peking pizza involving shredded aromatic duck with mozzarella, cucumber and spring onions sprinkled with hoi sin sauce (£9.75).
The manhattan pizza is a hearty option topped with homemade meatballs, bacon, chicken, pepperoni, and spicy lamb smothered with monterey jack cheese (9.95). When opting for pasta the chicken spirelli is a good choice combining char grilled chicken with vegetables and toasted pine nuts and topping it off with lemon oil, fresh basil and parmesan cheese.
There are no boring predictable desserts to be seen on the menu, traditional choices such as chocolate fudge cake have been replaced with a chocolate truffle cake (£5.25) served with ice cream or cream. The generous slice of truffle cake is delicious and presented beautifully yet is very rich so be sure to leave enough room for this one.
Other unusual options include poached pears and caramelised oranges drizzled with chocolate sauce and creme fraiche and a blueberry frangipane both at (£5.25).
The mini indulgences are a must for any dessert lover and are ideal for sharing. It's a platter of miniature versions of their most popular desserts served with ice cream at a slightly high price of £10.50. Finish your meal off with an Irish coffee, a Baileys latte or a refreshing cup of Suki tea.
Trio is a family friendly restaurant that welcomes children. Not only does it have a children’s menu it also has toys to keep them entertained. And it offers a budget friendly two for one deal on any pizza, pasta or sandwiches from Monday to Friday.
The Drink
The wine list definitely won’t disappoint with a good choice of red, white and rose available from £3.50 per glass. Bottles start at £13.50. Head upstairs for after dinner cocktails at Skippy’s lounge for a more adventurous alcoholic beverage.
The Last Word
This is most definitely a successful link in the Arc inspirations chain. A great place to socialise any day of the week.
