Went to China Red for my 21st birthday and we all had a brilliant time. Excellent food, great customer service and friendly staff. Will be going again very soon!

I would not re-visit this restaurant even if it was paid for! My fiance and I went out on 14/04/12 with his parents and nan who was visiting from Bournemouth. The restaurant was very quiet and looked in desperate need of an update, aside from that we thought all would be fine. We all ordered our food but soon realised all the chicken dishes tastes "funny". My fiance, his father and his mother had all ordered chicken dishes but they tasted off, my food was not great either, the table was crammed and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very low. Another table that were eating here walked out after having had some problems with their meal also, the woman kicked off and announced to the whole restaurant that if she were us "we should not even bother paying our bills!". Just after that the background music went off, someone seemed to be trying to sort that out and suddenly "happy birthday" music started playing although it didn't appear to be any-one's birthday. All in all it was a very poor meal, none of us will be returning, although we have only ever been three times before it has seriously gone downhill. A HUGE disappointment.

We went here on Boxing Day 2011 as we had a large group visiting family in the area and no-one felt like cooking. The buffet at £12.95 a head was great value, with something to please everyone in our party and the opportunity to go back for more/try different things. The place itself is a bit tired - desperately in need of a make-over, but staff were friendly, food very good and fresh as dishes were replaced regularly. Lovely crispy duck pancakes.

Went here for the Sunday buffet, below average Chinese, better off getting a supermarket takeaway and not getting ripped off paying the full adult price for children who happen to be over 140cm! Avoid.

Would never return! First time we have been and would never go back. As we had never been and it was Christmas it was a different set up to normal. We simply asked how the menu worked, the 'manager' might as well have laughed at us. Loads of waiters stood around not doing much either! We had lots of drinks come to our table which wasnt for us, food came to our table which wasnt for us. Table was cramped, noone cleared any glasses or rubbish (crackers etc). We received a bill for a round of drinks which we didnt order. The food was very average, i have to say you can make better at home. When we complained the 'manager' argued with us about it - not what i call customer service at all. The customer is always right or so we thought. He basically said tough..! Anyway, we finished our drinks and there were 8 of us out for my brother in law's 30th birthday. The 'big boss' came over after we requested a word with him. He decided to announce (surprise by the way) your cake is coming out now. we tried to shush him but he kept repeating and laughing. He waited at our table until after the happy birthday had been sung. My sister then explained all the issues we had experianced and how we had not enjoyed our evening in the slightest. He simply laughed throughout the conversation! At which point i stepped in to explain this isnt funny, we spent an awful lot of money and were so disappointed with how we were treat from start to finish. He wasnt interested at which point i just said, go away from our table we will never return to this restaurant. After that not one person came to our table, no drinks, bill nothing. We asked for the bill, after much debating we decided to just pay and leave it wasnt worth the hassle. Do not go here, we will never ever return, we would have done better ordering from a local place and having ourselves a good old night in. annoyed and frustrated!

I couldnt agree more! I personally think that they laugh because they dont understand a word you are saying. When I went I spoke to this lovely waitress who quite frankly seemed embarrased about the way it was 'managed'. The food was rank and cold. What a sham!

Have been to China Red 3 times over the last few years and each time it's been superb. Food fantastic (Duck and pancakes starter a particular delight), service prompt, very friendly and nicely unobtrusive. Will definitely be returning.

Just tried their takeaway service and it is just as good as the restaurant except you don't get the fantastic atmosphere!
I love their array of choice, their quality of food, the quantities and their really unbelievable prices. This is the best Chinese restaurant I have ever tried!

I have been to China Red a few times and each time I have been I have been impressed by the choice and authenticity of the food. It is the ONLY Chinese restaurant that actually serves decent and authentic Chinese Dumplings/Char-Sui and Seafood dishes we have found anywhere near! I have always found the levels of hygiene and the service fantastic and am planning on going back for my next birthday. I have just received a takeaway menu through the door and am over the moon as we have been unable to find a good takeaway near us and didn't know they offered this service!

Superb! Just got back with my 2 children after a lovely meal at China Red. The food was awesome and the service was equally as good and very quick which is a bonus when you have children. Value for money is spot on £30 for 3 main meals including Duck and some drinks and of such quality is a real bonus.
Check it out you won't regret it!

Food took 45 mins longer than we were told to arrive and when it came there was no rice at all. Once we got the rice the delivery driver said the manager wasn't working so we couldn't lodge a complaint, get any kind of refund or any discount. We proceeded to eat the food which was unbearably spicy, which was lucky because it meant
we didn't eat the massive pubic hair protruding from
our dish. Absolutely disgusting.
