Been there multiple times and every time I visit its a good experience. The food is proper Indian where I don't have to tell to make it more spicy or add more salt on top of it. The parking is free when you park in the nearly multistory car park. Make sure you get the replacement card from the restaurant
The best part is its not that expensive for the decor and standard of this restaurant.
The only drawback is they don't serve alcohol.
I will definitely recommend it.
Been before and it wasn't brilliant, thought we give them the benefit of the doubt & try again. Food so salty it gave us salt burn and too much salt can be dangerous. Over charged on bill, staff not interested. Would not recommend. Won't be coming again
Poor customer service and poor food.
Having booked a table, we had to wait for an hour to be seated and whilst waiting several groups of people who came in after us was seated before us.
very poor customer service, no online menu and could not pre book a table. Extremely rude staff. NOT recommended
If you enjoy Indian food in general, this place is not for you. If you like supposedly authentic (only their word for it) Indian food you will apparently love this place.
The decor is amazing and the staff very friendly, however they do not serve or allow alcohol which may or may not effect you. The food we ordered was very standard fair but unlike anything we had ever had before. The pop and pickle tray starter was disgusting with all the pickles flavourless and the popps seemed to made from brown flour which made a huge difference to normal ones.
The mains we ordered were korma and tikal massala, boring maybe but that's why we go and why we ordered them! Both were unrecognisable as these dishes. Both were dry and without a sauce and when I asked if this was the right order we were told it was authentic. Well as tikka massala was invented in England I'm not sure how this was authentic. The service although friendly was not great. We ordered a few cokes and waters which we could see ready at the bar but took at least 20 minutes to come, while we couldn't flag anyone down to fetch them.
Overall very dissapointed as the building and decor are great and promise great expectations.
I went to the restaurant this Saturday evening with five other friends. We were so looking forward to a lovely evening at the newly opened Leeds restaurant.
Unfortunately the whole evening was a waste of time and money. Here's what went wrong:
- the waiter who took our food order was in such a rush he started to walk away from the table when two people were still ordering sides for their meals
- the waiter didn't ask if we wanted any meals with our meal, we had to ask him
- we saw our drinks waiting on the counter for some time before they were brought over to us
- we had to wait over an hour between our starters and mains, with no advance warning of the delay and no communication during the hour from staff unless we queried the delay
- during the one hour wait not once were we asked by a waiter if we'd like any more drinks
- when our mains did finally arrive a number of dishes weren't warm, just tepid so not enjoyable and the order wasn't complete
All in all a pretty disappointing evening which is a shame as before Saturday i was a huge fan of the Mumtaz Brand. If this is the start of a national expansion of the chain, then they need to get customer service and food delivery right first.
went to mumtaz at the end of june with some freinds on a sat night.
The place was absoltely packed so they must be doing something right! Waited 30 mins for a table and i have never been so glad i waited!
Meal was fantastic, all tasted very fresh especially liked the Makhani dish and the Karahi Lamb on the bone.
We shared the mixed grille also with our mains and loved the lot. Lamb chops were gorgeous. Deserts we went unauthentic and had rassmalai and gulab jmans which were really unusual but ovely and sweet!
one of us had a selection of ice cream which i hink they they have 20 something flavours! All in all loved the place, is beautifully doneout but make nomistake the food is simply the best i have had in leeds.
Also the piano player was a nice touch playing eastern and western songs. Will def be going back!
Went to Mumtaz as a special treat for Father's day, originally had intended to go to Akbars, but after going round the Royal Armouries headed across the bridge to Mumtaz.
Amazing twenties surroundings, attentive staff, a wide range of fruit based cocktails all seemed perfect.
We started with a mixed starter chicken wings, fish, seekh kebab so on. All too spicy for the kids and to be honest blew my tastebuds away, but better than your average takeaway just.
Then the mains, I went for King Prawn Dopiaza, including green chillies and medium strength.
Strange you can specify the strength of your curry, surely the chef should have some integrity about what they are cooking and not let the customer over heat it up or down.
My partner had Prawn Makhani mild and my son had Murgh Makhani.
The dopiaza came no green chillies, but unmentioned green and red peppers, the Prawn Makhani was swimming in oil and tasted of uncooked tomato puree and oil as did the Murgh Makhani.
None of the mains tasted like a curry, now we were wishing we had gone to Aagrah, Akbars well anywhere.
The waiter came and asked us iif the meal was okay we told him how we felt, apparently the Dopiaza is like that in Bradford, well then tell me on the menu, so I don't order it.
They offered us free sweets a nice touch, though we didn't want aymore of their food. The meal cost £70, for something I would never have served at home.
