This relatively new bar has made its mark on the gay scene, and it's contemporary look has made it the place to be seen. The VenueJust a little down the road from the ever so popular Queen’s court, Religion is the newest addition to the city’s gay scene, and it's very popular.
As you go downstairs into the intimate club you'll find a comfy seating area, all in white leather, with ice buckets sunken into the tables.
The limited dancefloor space is surrounded by high tables and bar stools, and the mirrored walls create an illusion of greater space and a focal point for any narcissists.
And if you catch youself looking a bit off colour there's hair straighteners and curling tongs in the frosted-glass loos.
The PeopleThe crowd here are great fun and there’s not even a tinge of attitude in the air. But it wouldn’t be a good idea to turn up in your everyday clothes, so if you've spent the day shopping don't just pop in for a pint.
All the men, women and transvestites that turn up for a night out at Religion have dressed to impress, and if you don’t, you'll stand out - for all the wrong reasons.
As if it couldn’t get any better, the bar staff here are quite simply among the best in the business, and they make their drinks with flair and enthusiasm.
The MusicMonday’s School Disco is, as you'd expect, a mix of camp 80’s classics that's popular with the crowd who turn up dressed as naughty school boys and girls.
Pout is a bit more of a serious music night, with a mix of house, electro and old school R'n'B. Dirty Stop Out offers an eclectic mix of all things fabulous, specifically R'n'B, hip-hop, funk, soul and 80’s dance classics.
And for the devil-may-care Friday and Saturday crowd there's the hedonistic mix of funky house, vocal house and electro, which is played from 10pm until late.
There’s something for almost everyone, however if your tastes are more particular, or all you listen to is rock or metal, then maybe you should give it a miss.
The DrinkThere's no club in Leeds that can top the variety and quality of drinks on offer here. Emphasis is placed on Champagne, and there's an impressive selection of cocktails which feature it as a main ingredient.
The wine list is also extensive. However don't think that because this is a classy venue it's an expensive one.
There are plenty of drinks on offer to appeal to any pocket, and OK, it's not Wetherspoons, but with such luxurious surroundings you'd expect to pay a little more.
The Last WordReligion may well be Leeds’ greatest addition in decades, no matter which way you swing.
