I was disgusted last week, whilst enjoying a Sunday afternoon out with my family, to see a group of lads enjoying themselves laughing and joking being told off like little school boys by who i presumed to be the manager/ landlord for laughing and making too much noise, which wasn't that loud or brash, we we're all surprised that none of these lads didn't actually flatten this rude and aggressive so called manager. We later found out that these lads, which made the pub lively, are all regulars and send a considerable amount of time and money in the pub. The manager then proceeded to get more aggressive and rude with other customers. My family and i we're completely discussed with his behaviour and actions not just to the young lads but to his staff and other customers that we feel it must be reported to Greene-King itself. As i am new to the area i was looking for a nice local pub where to relax and to get to know the regulars, i gave it a second go on Thursday which was busy due to the locals pool team, to overhearing that one of the lads from last Sunday has been barred, who seems to have been made a target of the management due to disagreeing with the manager over a matter of the police being called to get a 4 month old baby out of the pub. I was told on Thursday by one of the regulars that the pub is more for food and the drinking culture is not welcome in there, not whilst the management in there now have anything to do with it.
I must remember to add my star rating to reviews ( shame there's not a blank star) :0(
Sorry did not change my star rating - if I could do none I would
This is my weekly report on what used to be the finest pub in and around Armley. I called in on Sunday which is one of the busier days. There was a good atmosphere amongst a group of the regulars who were laughing and joking as one would expect on a weekend. I noticed the landlord, or manager whatever his title, approach them and told them, not ask them, to keep their "noise" down because people were "eating" and shouldn't have listen to "that kind of noise".
Well I was somewhat taken aback by this. If I was eating there , which I never will, I would have been more upset by the scruffy appearance of the landlord/manager who would look more at home drinking cider on a park bench. Greene King please note.
forgot to include my star rating on my review.
this once fine pub is now one of the most depressing places i've ever visited since the new management took over, this landlord has about as much personality as brick wall and likes to treat his paying regulars like dirt, the guy would be much more suited to running a tea and biscuit shop where people are not allowed to laugh, smile or remotely enjoy themselves, greeneking please take note and GET RID OF THESE FOOLS who have killed are pub....................
This pub has gone way down in the last few years. It used to be a "real" pub but now the emphasis is on food. It feels like you could be stood in McDonald's with a beer, and the service is terrible. Waiting to be served at times takes up-to 10 minutes if you want a beer, but walk up with a menu, well that's a different story. The bar staff try their best but it always seems understaffed. I won't mention the dress code for the management because they don't appear to have any! I think Greene King need to take a close look at this place when it's busy to agree with my points but I can't see that happening somehow.
Visited the pub on Saturday night and the new menu was so cheep and fantastic value. We were very impressed with the live entertainment that night and intend to visit the quiz night next Thursday can recommend this venue.
