This is a rather good pub, and an excellent eaterie. The surroundings are most comfortable. Ranging from access for pub "bar-fly's" to individual 6-seater booths for more private dining, with plenty of comfortable seating spread over a very large footprint. The hosts are attentive, the courteous staff knowledgeable with regard the well kept Greene King beer (yes, in deepest Yorkshire of all places) and the variety of cask conditioned ales. . . And the food. . . Very good doesn't get near it. The range is excellent and the quality is quite simply the best food tasted in a "pub"(which seems to belittle the superior quality of the vittles found there). The five stars are in this case well deserved. It does get very busy but the staff keep you up to press with any delays (if any) only to be expected when the place becomes packed.
In a nutshell: The place is a haven in a sea of humdrum pub mediocrity. Beers well looked after and the scran is second to none.
