We went to Jamie's at 6pm on Friday 21st May, when we arrived it was fairly quiet but within 1/2 hour the restaurant was full. I was annoyed about how close together the tables had been placed and there was hardly any room to squeeze through to sit down. We were also put upstairs in a really dark and gloomy off-room even though it was a sunny evening and there was plenty of room in the lighter area of the restaurant.

I order the squid for a starter and have to say that I was really disappointed about the portion size. It was really chewy and I struggled to cut through it with my knife. My husband had mozzarella wrapped in pancetta, this would have been lovely had the mozzarella not been fridge cold and the pancetta warm.

For a main course I had mushroom ravioli which was the best I've ever tasted, but again the portion size was still too small for my liking. I also ordered some truffle chips, which again were disappointing and didn't taste of truffle. The parmesan on them was also fairly tasteless.

The staff at Jamie's really make it what it is, they really go out of their way to provide good service. It's just a shame that you don't get more on your plate. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be going back for a second visit.

We were a party of 24 last night from a law firm in Leeds City Centre and could not be seated. We asked if a few tables could be put together but they refused, we suggested just being seated in the same area without putting tables together they still refused, all the restaurant could come up with was sitting 2 or 4 at a time as and when tables became available. We were told only last Friday that if we arrived around 6.00pm the restaurant could accommodate us. Consequently our party of 24 left and we felt really let down and disappointed.

Great food, I'd recommend the meat plank starter especially. Each bit was the nicest version of its own kind I've ever had; amazing olives, the meats were beautiful and the cheeses to die for.

The staff were amazingly friendly and knew their stuff, and could have seemingly talked for hours on the food's sources etc. All in all a great night and one to recommend to anyone.

First time visit to Jamies Italian in Leeds, arrived 6pm ish for an early evening bite before going home, welcomed and straight into the restaurant upstairs, we were offered a table for 2 in the isle, we asked to be moved to a booth near the window for 4 people, no problem, understandably at this time they wanted to leave the 4 seaters for 4 people as the restaurant began to fill up, our visit was to try it out, nothing special to celebrate, just an early evening meal. The menu looks good, l opted for a light snack of pickled sardines before main course, which were light and refreshing, we both chose the prawn linguine, wow ! that was some pasta, we eat out alot and l can say having no expectations of the food on offer, the pasta was al dente with plenty of prawns and flavour, the sauce was just great with a little kick ! highly recommended, all washed down with a 500ml of merlot, between 2 of us ! by the time we left approx 7pm it was starting to fill up, and l`m not surprised, warm friendly staff, quick service, great food, this place is going to be huge on the foodie scene in Leeds, just hope we can get in when we want to next time very soon.

Just a quick report, 13th May 2010 6pm. TBH a bit disappointing! Seated right away, was 30% capacity. As expected, new rest., new staff, just opened a few days.... waiters are great but cooks are not up-to standard yet. Pasta was not cooked properly, too hard (x2 dishes). Hot salad was over burnt (tasted bitter). Lamp chops perfect and funky chips very nice. Que outside about 10 ppl when we left at 7.30pm. I give 1 star for now as expected for newly opening rest. will defo go back and try again in a month's time and see how they improve, if same I'll never go back again. MT

Just had lunch at Jamie Italian Leeds, excellent. It was so Jamie, like being in one of his cookery programmes.
Homely, tasty, had fish platter and chocolate brownie to follow. So nice not to have to treck to London to get a decent meal.
Our waitress, Jemima, could not have been more helpful.
Shall return again very soon.
