The ViewLeeds Review
Located in the middle of the pedestrian precinct, with a peaceful view of the cobbles of Swan Street, The Swan has little competition for a relaxing post work pint in LS1.
A much loved bar for many in the city, The Swan is elegant yet relaxed, perfect for winding down after a hard day in the office.
The Venue
You could make a comparison between The Swan and Central Perk in Friends. With its coffee shop feel, combined with the added advantage of an alcohol licence, it's a cosy place for friends to slump down and have a natter.
Outside there’s a narrow, heated seating area split for smokers and non smokers. Inside there’s a variety of seating and tables, with sumptuous chunky leather sofas creating a split-level lounge and dining area, each with a relaxed feel.
The People
Staff are always very courteous and polite, and so are the people who drink here. They're made up of an eclectic yet personable Leeds crowd.
Regulars are mainly young professionals working in the city who managed to track down this relatively secluded pub. Even though it is tucked down an alley The Swan has a thriving trade and is extremely popular with those in the know.
The Food
It's clear a great amount of pride goes into the preparation of the food. The menu isn’t vast but the high quality of the produce more than makes up for this.
Chicken caesar salad is recommended for the more health conscious. It’s served in a deep plate, piled high with crisp salad and juicy chicken.
For the less health conscious the selection of house burgers makes for interesting reading, and another good recommendation would be the mouthwatering lamb burger served with mint sauce, mixed leaves and potato wedges.
The Drink
Far from the usual beer pump fare you may be faced with in less well thought out establishments, The Swan is a haven for beer and latte lovers alike.
The Swan also has an array of international spirits and a lengthy wine list which is very popular!
The Last Word
Unlike many city centre bars, it's possible to really relax here and take a step back from the hustle and bustle at either end of the cobbles of Swan Street. Quite possibly the most unique bar in Leeds (and only for good reasons).
